A teenager who broke into a sports centre and stole cash has been jailed for ten months.

The teenager appeared before Naas District Court on February 28.

The youth, who cannot be named because he is under age, was accompanied to the district court by his father.

The court was told that on December 14 2017, the teenager broke into the Naas Driving Range, Sallins road, Naas.

The 16-year-old teenager was with others and they forced the door of the building which was closed to the public at the time.

He took €100 cash.

The teenager pleaded guilty and had no previous convictions.

A probation service report said he was a “moderate risk” of reoffending.
