Kildare brothers reunited after two years set to appear on Ireland's Got Talent

Dan and Jono Frawley

Two brothers from Kildare are set to appear on the Ireland’s Got Talent stage.

Daniel (Dan) and Jonathan (Jono) Frawley grew up in Leixlip but now live in Monasterevin and Celbridge respectively.

Jono has recently returned from Canada, where he was working and travelling for two years.

“We hadn’t played for so long, we used to do pub gigs all the time, our voices work well together so we always liked doing that,” Dan told the Leader.

“So when he came back in late August/early September, I could see the closing date for Ireland’s Got Talent, and said let’s give that one a go. And we had a week left to get a video together and send it in, and it was our first time playing together in over two years.”

Dan (34) works for Imagine Broadband, while Jono (32) is a student. Both have a busy few months ahead as Dan prepares to marry fiancée Lorna in July, while Jono and his partner are expecting a baby this month.

As a teenager, Dan was a member of pop band No Way Out who supported Westlife on their World of Our Own tour.

Dan said he had played in front of a million people before the age of 21.

“That was an experience and a half, it was incredible, we became so close and unfortunately it didn’t get all the way."

Ireland’s Got Talent was an opportunity for the brothers to get back out on the music scene together.

“This is an opportunity to get out there and sing again, and what better person to do it with, Jono's absolutely brilliant.

“It was incredible, it was so different because we hadn’t done anything like that before. We’d only do our pub gigs and we do our musicals and we’ve done a few musicals in Kildare before for different societies and we love that so if we’re singing we’re happy but that was a crazy experience, to be able to get on stage in front of the judges, it was incredible.”

The lads main influence growing up was their father, Fran Frawley.

"He’s the main influence that we’ve had, he’s been in bands for years and we loved every second of it so as soon as we were old enough to play something we both got the guitar.”

Catch the duo on Ireland’s Got Talent on Saturday, March 9 on Virgin Media One.
