The case was before the judge at Naas
Reporting restrictions have been put on the case of a man in his early fifties who is charged with sexual assault on a woman in the north Kildare area in 2017.
The man appeared at Naas District Court on February 13. It is alleged that he had got into the bed of a woman in her 30s, who was a girlfriend of one of the other people who lived at the house at the time.
The offences relate to touching but not penetration, noted Judge Desmond Zaidan, when granting free legal aid for a solicitor and one junior counsel to the man’s defence. He turned down a request from solicitor Tim Kennelly for a senior counsel, due to the nature of the allegation.
The case has been sent forward to the sitting of Naas Circuit Court, starting on March 5.
