Former Kildare Post Office employee who allegedly stole over €91,000 sent forward for trial

A former Kildare Post Office employee who allegedly stole over €91,000 has been sent forward for trial at Naas Circuit Court.

Conor Armstrong, 41, with an address listed as Prosperous, Naas appeared at Naas District Court on Thursday, February 21. Mr Armstrong is charged with 34 counts of theft.

It is alleged that Mr. Armstrong, an ex postmaster at Prosperous Post Office, took money from the Post Office and various customer accounts on various dates over a three year period, ending in 2015, totalling €91,534.

The court heard that Mr Armstrong allegedly took €50,000 from the Post Office itself, and €41,534 from various customers in small amounts.

Mr Armstrong will be tried by a jury at the next sitting of Naas Circuit Court, on March 5.
