BREAKING: Route chosen for Naas ring road

The routes put to the consultants are marked

The recommended route for the final section of the ring road goes against the demands of a large groiup of local residents.

Kildare County Council has published the route selection report for the Naas inner relief road, opting for route 2. This has been criticised by Cllr Darren Scully “as the wrong choice for the town.”

He added: “I am calling on all the residents of Naas to read the report and to submit their views and opinions under the part 8 process which will have to be voted on by councillors by April 16. This inner relief road will affect all the residents and business people in the town. It is a huge decision that will have a big impact regarding the town and its growth over the next two decades.”

The ring road will connect Dublin road with Blessington Road. Routes 1 and 2 are largely similar and pass on the town side of the racecourse. Another route which was considered, passes on the  Johnstown/Tipper side of the racecourse and is longer.

The final decision will be made by the Naas councillors.
