Emergency personnel attend former factory site in Naas

The scene at a derelict factory near Naas this afternoon

Firefighters and gardai are at the scene of a disused factory on the outskirts of Naas this afternoon.

Two fire engines as well as a support vehicle and a garda patrol car went to the former concrete pipe manufacturing site near Naas racecourse shortly before 3pm.

It’s understood that the fire service was responding to a report from a member of the public of a blaze on site.

However the significance of the incident was being played down after firemen and gardai inspected the site. There are no reports of injuries.

A number of fires have taken place at the site which was operated by Cemex, until it closed in late 2007.

More recently it was subject of a planning application for a major service station development by Applegreen, which is currently stalled.
