Kildare mum’s plea for help to fund wheelchair accessible car for son with special needs

8-year-old Alex Kenny

A Co. Kildare mother has made a plea for help to fund a wheelchair accessible car for her son.

Lyndsey Keogh from Nurney has an 8-year-old son with special needs.

Alex Kenny has a condition called polymicrogyria, a rare brain condition, and microcheaphly and hyptiona.

“He can’t talk or eat, and he is tube fed and in a wheelchair for the rest of his life”, Lyndsey told the Leader.

Lyndsey is trying to raise money to buy a wheelchair accessible car because she says it is becoming impossible to lift Alex in and out of their current car, and can be a struggle when he has to be rushed to hospital.

Lyndsey said it is too expensive to buy one right now. “We have always bought cheap cars but have to change it every year as they don't last long."

Lyndsey said anything at all would be appreciated.

“He’s a very happy child, even with all his problems he is just amazing”, said Lyndsey.
