Speeding in Naas housing estates to be tackled

Kildare County Council offices

Speeding in housing estates in the Naas area is to be tackled by the introduction of 30 kph speed limits.

Residential areas that have been taken in charge by Kildare County Council are to be assessed to Jake Law signs - a combination of 30 kph signs and slow zone signs. Jake’s Law refers to a child who died after being struck by a car near his home in 2014.

The work will be done as part of a review of speed limits across Co. Kildare. It’s planned to introduce the signs on a phased basis.

According to the council it is necessary for any change to have the backing of a bye law so that it can be enforced by the gardai.
