A man who stole t-shirts from Dealz in Newbridge has been given the benefit of the Probation Act.

Patrick Behan, with an address listed as Peter McVerry Trust House, Eyre Street, Newbridge, appeared before Naas District Court on November 1 last.

The court heard that on May 1 of this year, at 6.15pm, Mr. Behan stole six t-shirts to the value of €18 from Dealz in Newbridge. Evidence was given that Mr. Behan has 61 previous convictions, but has kept a “clean sheet” since 2010.

The court heard Mr. Behan had developed a drug problem in recent months, and had sold the t-shirts to get drugs. The court also heard that Mr Behan is currently getting help.

Judge Zaidan applied the Probation Act.
