The number of younger people on the Live Register in Athy fell proportionately more over a year than any other place in county Kildare, the October figures from the Central Statistics Show.
There was a 40% fall to 140 between October 2017 and last month, according to the figures.
Overall in Kildare, the percentage fell 26.5% to 804 for this group, compared to a 20% drop for the State as a whole.
There was a 34% drop to 190 in Maynooth and a 17% fall to 473 in Newbridge.
The Athy drop for those aged 25 and over was not as relatively good. Numbers fell 21% to 1193, compared to an 18% drop for the county as a whole to 7,324 and a 15% fall for the State.
The Maynooth office saw the highest drop in this older age category, with the numbers going down 22% to 2,445.
In Newbridge, the drop was 15% to 3,686.
