Five Lamps pub closes in Naas

The Five Lamps, Naas

A Naas pub has closed - at least temporarily.

The Five Lamps, which is also known as a music venue, at South Main Street did not reopen after the Hallowe’en bank holiday weekend.

It is not clear if the premises will reopen and there is speculation that the closure is not permanent.

It is understood that a lease agreement exists between the proprietor and the developer of the unopened shopping centre, which backs on to the pub.

The popular proprietor, a Dublin native, has considerable experience in the licenced trade and was previously associated with a pub at New Row/Fairgreen Street and leases a premises in Newbridge.

It's understood he is abroad for a brief period and efforts to contact him by the Leader were unsuccessful.
