North Kildare town sees second highest one bed rent rises in State

The 30% rise in the monthly rent of one bedroom apartments in the north Kildare town of Kilcock was the second highest in the State, according to rent figures released by the Central Statistics Office on September 29 last.

The price of one bed apartments in the town increased from €677 to €883 - the second highest increase between Q2 2017 and Q2 2018.

Of the 148 towns/counties surveyed for one bed residences in the Republic, Kildare town saw the fifth highest percentage rent rise.

The rents there increased by 19.4% to €779.

In Maynooth, where Kildare County Council recently heard about concerns over rent rises, monthly rent for one bedroom apartments rose proportionately more than other properties in Maynooth.

One bed apartment rents in Maynooth rose by 9.2% to €908 while 1-2 bed apartment prices rose 8% to €1,164.

Two bed apartment rents in the university town rose by 7.2% to €1,218.

A three bed house in the town would cost tenants €1,310, up 3.9% over the year.

Nationally, monthly rents for one bed apartments were mostly up.

The lowest one bed rent was in Leitrim, a cost of €384 and a 5% increase on Q2 2017.

There were falls in some locations for one beds within county Kildare, even though they were slight.In Newbridge the figures indicated a drop of under 1% in Newbridge from €671 to €666.While in Athy there was a 5.3% rise to €562
