Road accident teenager to be remembered in Sallins

The funeral of Dane Loakman (16)

A walk in memory of road accident victim Dane Loakman will take place in Sallins later this month.

The silent march will start out from the Clane road, near the entrance to Castlefen where Dane lived with his family, mother Alison and brother Codey. It will proceed into the village and back again to the starting point.

It will take place on Saturday November 24, which roughly coincides with the first anniversary of the teenager’s death. A time has not yet been finalised.

The 16 year old died after a collision with a vehicle as he was crossing the road.

“It will not be a protest event in any way. It is taking place out of respect to Dane and to honour his memory and it will be a silent march,” family representative Bernie Johnston told the Leader.
