Security personnel are patrolling Monread Park in Naas

Monread Park

Security personnel have been deployed to Monread Park, Naas, for Hallowe’en.

Patrols took place between 10pm yesterday and 3am this morning.

According to Kildare County Council there will also be a security presence there today - starting at 4pm and this will be maintained until at least 3am tomorrow.

The park was also patrolled by security staff on an hourly basis over last weekend.

There have been repeated complaints about anti social behaviour at the park (which embraces a playground) over a long period from visitors, residents in the area and politicians.

Cllr. Darren Scully, who lives a short distance from the park’s main entrance, said a CCTV system should be installed to counter bad behaviour and illegal drinking there.

And he has also called for action “against a few gougers who think it’s ok to drink, throw bottles and damage equipment.”
