A local councillor has called for designated parking on the Curragh.

At the October Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District meeting, Cllr Morgan McCabe put forward a motion asking Kildare County Council to propose creating designated parking zones and a ‘No Driving on the Grass’ byelaw as part of future plans for the Plains.

“People are driving everywhere, the damage is incredible,” said Cllr McCabe.

“People are using motorbikes and quads. There are tyre tracks everywhere. It is vital and urgent to put this onto the agenda,” Cllr McCabe added.

Kildare County Council said the suggestion will be taken into account as part of future proposals on the area.
