Garda warning after neighbour intervenes to prevent Naas burglary

Naas Garda Station

Two would-be burglars were surprised during an attempted robbery at a house in a rural area near Naas.

Two young males ran from the dwelling at Blackhall, close to Punchestown racecourse,  on October 13 having been disturbed by a neighbour.

The house alarm was activated and when the neighbour went to investigate he saw a light from a torch in a front room before the two fled from the house. It happened between 9 and 9.30pm.

The back door was smashed during the incident.

A garda spokesman has warned that there are likely to be more burglaries in rural areas as daylight hours shorten.

“These two  were surprised through the activation of the alarm and the intervention of the neighbour,” he said.
