Kildare pensioner conned into giving money to man claiming to be working for Council

An elderly pensioner was scammed out of a sum of money by a man pretending to be a worker in the Council.

Last Friday, April 20, the pensioner was approached in Robertstown by an unknown male on his way home from the post office.

The man claimed that he had carried out work on behalf of the council, and asked for money which was subsequently handed over.

He was described as being around 5’9 in height, in his 30’s, of slim build, wearing green trousers and jacket, which looked like a uniform of some description.
