The case of a 16-year-old who was allegedly found with over 14,000 worth of drugs has been sent forward to the Circuit Court for hearing.

The juvenile, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before Naas District Court on April 19.

The court heard evidence that a search was carried out under warrant in a house in Co. Kildare in June 2017 at approximately 7pm.

It is alleged that €200 worth of cannabis was found. Gardaí then got a phone call to say that there was suspicious activity going on at the rear of the house.

On inspection, gardaí allegedly found cannabis bagged in various amounts at the property with a value of approximately €14,500.

The court heard that the youth made a voluntary admission, and was charged with possession of drugs and sale and supply.

Judge Desmond Zaidan said he didn’t consider the allegations to be minor, so is sending him forward for trial before a jury. The youth will appear back on May 17 next.
