Volunteers needed for Kildare plastic supermarket campaign this Saturday

Deirdre Lane

Volunteers are needed for a plastic recycling awareness drive at Kildare supermarkets this Saturday, April 21.

Newbridge’s Deirdre Lane explains: “Some of us are #SickOfPlastic and on April 21 will be at supermarkets in Kildare urging for less plastic more reuse solutions and recyclable  to be made available,” she said.

“The Cottage Market in Newbridge we run is helping growth towards ZeroWaste shopping with Bring your Own shopping options. This reduces your waste and saves you money with growing awareness of plastic pollution being brought to the fore by programmes such as David Attenborough's Blue Planet, people are becoming proactive about their actions and seeking ways to reduce their plastic consumption.”

Deirdre is seeking volunteers to sign up to give a couple hours on the day.

“We will be in Newbridge on Saturday 21 from 10am moving to Athy for 2pm. All welcome please,” she added.
