Members of Suncroft Foróige with TD Fiona O'Loughlin last Sunday
Last Sunday, Suncroft Community Centre celebrated its third anniversary with a local community groups and Suncroft Foróige played it’s part.
Using the evening as a chance to raise awareness of the club while raising funds for activities and training they have been planning.
The club has raised €600 for the members with a combination of bake sale and Easter raffle tickets. The club will be all going to the Foróige Teenage Hype Music Festival held in Longford this summer – a gathering of 2000 young people and volunteers across Ireland.
Members this year will also be applying to attend the Foróige Leadership Conference hosted by NUI Maynooth in August, with the monies raised the members will be able to avail of opportunities like these and ultimately will encourage them to work with their communities learning life lessons along the way.
This has only been available thanks to the volunteers working with the members and the hugely generous community of Suncroft.
Suncroft Foróige was set up to provide members with a place to meet, plan activities, engage with the community and learn by doing.
The club has a history all the way back to the 90s and the club was reignited by Lorraine who wanted to see the space being used and give the teens somewhere to go that was constructive. The club has continued to go from strength to strength with the volunteers actively working with the members to think about what they want from the club.
Both members and volunteers from Suncroft Foróige would like to thank their local community for their support at the celebration event and look forward participating in future community events.
