Acid found in Kildare woman's underwear, court hears, as barring order granted

Naas courthouse

The District Court in Naas has granted a Kildare woman an interim barring order after the judge was told that Gardai were investigating a case of acid being found in her clothing.

The woman sought the order against her partner after complaining to the Gardai that acid was apparently placed in her underwear. It had burned her private parts, the court heard.

Gardai, who are investigating the incident, sent the substance for forensic testing, and it emerged that the substance was acidic. The substance was found earlier this year but the barring order application was delayed until more information was available, Judge Desmond Zaidan was told.

The woman had also temporarily left her home.

The matter was adjourned for a time at Naas District Court today so that the interim barring order could served on the other party by the Gardai.
