Sallins train fracas men due to appear in court

Sallins train station

The four men arrested  aboard a train in Sallins rail station at the weekend are due to appear in Naas Court on May 2.

The four, all with addresses in Tallaght and aged 25-26, were detained after gardai boarded the Dublin bound train at the station  shortly after 9.30pm on Saturday.

All were highly intoxicated and were taken off the train. Although there were reports that one had a knife, it emerged that he had a multi tool implement when he was searched.

It is understood that the four got  on to the train at Portarlington station before a dispute erupted among themselves, during the course of which a fire extinguisher was discharged.

One of the four was treated in Naas Hospital for a cut to his hand and another above an eye, thought to have been inflicted with a bottle.

Both the gardai and Irish Rail are investigating.
