Sallins road safety worries prompts new action group

Some 22,000 vehicles go through Sallins every day

An action group has been set up to tackle road safety issues in Sallins.

The move was prompted by parents worried over a lack of traffic calming measures especially for school children and bus bays for school vehicles.

It has come from Sallins Community Council. SCC chairperson Fergus Carpenter said the road safety working group will identify the extent and nature of the road safety issues as well as identifying solutions and lobbying Kildare County Council to act.

“There are lots of problems that need addressing but we have identified two priorities - traffic calming measures on the entrances to Sallins at the Clane side (Castlefen) and at Willouise and the need for school bus bays”  added Mr.Carpenter.
