Timmy Conway with Pres. Michael D. Higgins
Naas writer Timmy Conway had a meeting with President Michael D Higgins at Aras an Uachtarain. The pair have at least two things in common - both are writers and both were Labour Party members of the Seanad.
"We have been friends for over 40 years. We shared an office when both of us served in the Senate. He served as chairman of the Labour Party and I was financial secretary for over ten years. He often stayed in our house. I congratulated him on the way he carried out his Presidency, told him I will be voting for him and encouraged him to seek another term. He thanked me and expressed his willingness to seek another term. His wife Sabina was enthusiastic about Michael seeking another term," said Mr. Conway.
