Newbridge man before court on drugs charges

The case was heard in Naas

A man pleaded guilty to charges on possession of cannabis, and possession of the drug for sale or supply, at Naas District Court last Wednesday, March 28.

Brendan Landy (also known as Declan), 32, has an address listed as 2557 Lakeside Park, Newbridge, which is where the drugs were found in a Garda search on September 23, 2017.

A total of €410 worth of cannabis was recovered, as was a weighing scales and deal bags.

Mr Landy has a previous conviction, for possession, 2005, his solicitor Stephen Walsh told the court. He was, the court heard, a small player in the supply of drugs, mainly just to his friends.

Detective Garda Seamus Boyle said he had not come to Garda attention since. Mr Landy assured the Judge he had mended his ways.

Judge Desmond Zaidan ordered that Mr Landy make donations totalling €2,500 to a number of charities by next September. “I hope we never see you here again.”
