Local volunteers were honoured on Monday, March 12 as the Rotary Club of Newbridge presented cheques to three groups they had fundraised for in 2017.

The balance of funds collected during their sponsored fast last year, and funds collected at the Remembrance Tree in shopping centres over Christmas, was donated.

Cheques were handed over to Eileen McDonnell and Dolores O’Shea representing St. Brigid’s Hospice, to Karen Leigh and Rhonda Bermingham representing Sensational Kids, and to Catherine O’Donoghue and Mary Ryan representing The Dining Room.

Keynote speaker, Siobhan O’Rourke delivered an informative address on the Kildare Age Friendly Project. Club president Peter Robinson thanked all those who attended the event and the Riverbank Arts Centre for the use of their facility.
