A Limerick man has appeared at Naas District Court in connection with having an estimated €137,000 of illegal drugs for sale and supply on the N7 road at Curragh Farm last year.

Noel Noonan (40), with an address at 19 North Claughan Road, Garryowen,  Limerick city, appeared at the March 14 sitting.

The State is alleging that he had amphetamine and alprazolam when Gardai stopped the vehicle was in charge of at 13.45 on February 13 2017.

Garda Christine Brady told the Court the estimated combined value of the drugs was €137,858.68.

Garda Sgt Jim Kelly said that alprazolam was a white glue like substance.

Mr Noonan was remanded in custody to March 21 with consent to bail, including a €5,000 bond from his mother, signing on at Henry Street Garda station in Limerick and surrendering his passport. He is also facing lesser charges for breach of the road traffic legislation.

The question of free legal aid was deferred by Judge Desmond Zaidan.
