Kildare had no shortage of lucky lotto wins in 2017.

There were no less than eight big wins across the county in the last year.

In May, a family in the county became millionares after buying a winning €1m scratchcard.

The ticket was bought at Maxol Service Station on the Sallins Road, Naas.

In June, two brothers from Kildare cashed in a  whopping €2 million lotto ticket.

The ticket was bought in Kennedy's Topaz in Carrick-on-Shannon.

The brothers wanted to keep their massive win private.

Elsewhere on July 5, a family from the Curragh collected their half a million lotto winnings from headquarters in Dublin.

Jim Carroll and his wife Anne, who have seven children, were the lucky winners of the  Lotto Plus One draw.

Jim bought the winning ticket at O'Donnells Centra store in the Curragh Camp on Wednesday June 28.

Speaking to the Leader on the day, Jim said; "Absolutely delighted. In general, people just couldn't be happier for us. It's a very tight community the Curragh itself, and people are over the moon for us in all fairness.”

In September, a Euromillions Plus ticket was sold in Dunnes Stores, Newbridge.

A lucky Kildare woman collected the half a million prize money from Lottery HQ, after finding the winning ticket at the end of her handbag.

The woman, who didn't realise she had won until a couple of days later, wished to remain anonymous.

In October, six months after selling a €1m winner, Maxol Service Station on the Sallins Road, Naas sold a €250,000 Lotto Plus 2 top prize.

A family in the county, who wished to remain anonymous, collected the big prize from National Lottery headquarters in Dublin on October 6.

On October 10, Kildare town’s Malone’s newsagent struck lucky with a €65,000 Telly Bingo win.

A Kildare pensioner scooped the win.

On November 11, a winning  Lotto Match 5+Bonus prize ticket was sold at Ward’s Service Station in Coill Dubh, Naas.

The ticket was worth €220,690, and a Kildare dad collected the prize.

On December 15, a mother-of-two from Kilmead,  Athy collected her €50,000 winnings just in time for Christmas.

Karen Keiller bought the scratchcard where she works, at the Spar shop on The Village Green, Nurney.

Asked how she will spend the money, Karen said; “I will pay off my bills and I might change my car in the New Year. And I will give a few bob to each of my two sons Ciaran (16) and Tadgh (19).”

On December 19, a couple from Kildare claimed a prize of €500,000 from the EuroMillions Plus draw.

The ticket was bought in the Tesco store on the Maynooth Road, Celbridge.

The delighted husband and wife syndicate said they are going to do a New Year holiday with the kids.

Hopefully the luck of the Lilywhites will continue into 2018.
