A roadway in Killina, between Derrinturn and Allenwood, which has nine dwellings along it, is so pock marked with potholes that residents are forced to slow to a snails pace to drive avoid them.
Large craters, some as deep as five inches and as wides three feet, have scarred the roadway, which is a cul-de-sac.
Local resident Michael Sullivan told the Leinster Leader that he had paid a considerable amount in development levies when he built his house and yet he says that Kildare County Council has told him they will not tar or maintain the road.
“They’ve told me that it is a private road,” he said, although he is mystified as to who it could belong to.
He said the Council had provided him with a pile of gravel which he and his father had spread themselves.
