As the prospect of a December election looms, Naas Mayor Rob Power says no election posters should be put up in Naas.
The Fianna Fail politician further said that posters should not be put up in any town or village in the Naas Municipal District - some of which are in the Kildare South constituency - in the event of a snap election.
He said: "Over the past three years Naas councillors have committed significant funds toward Christmas lights and Tidy Town projects throughout the district. Now that the towns have been decorated ahead of the Christmas season, we don’t want election posters bringing humbug to that or dampening the festive look of the town.”
He wants candidates to avoid erecting posters in towns and village centres where Christmas lights and decorations have been put in place.
