A Roscommon woman was charged with dangerous driving in a car, in which a number of passengers were in the boot, it has been alleged in a District Court.
At last Tuesday's (November 21) sitting of Kilcock District Court, held in Naas, the State alleged dangerous driving in the case of Ana Hoban (36), Ballinaheglish, Roscommon.
Garda Inspector John Costello, said she was charged with dangerous driving on the M4 at Newtown on November 10, eleven days previously.
Inspector Costello said the State is alleging that Ms Hoban was travelling at 170kph in the 120 kph zone.
In addition there were five people in “the cockpit of the vehicle and two in the boot”, the court heard. Judge Desmond Zaidan asked: “Are you sure there were not more in the boot?
Defence barrister, Willie Hughes, said the car was a Volkswagen Passat and there were aggravating features to the case.
The Court was told that Gardai pursued the car.
The matter has been adjourned pending disclosure of the full evidence to the defence.
