Kildare North Labour Representative Emmet Stagg has welcomed the decision by Kildare Co. Council to commence the process to seek approval from the Department of Housing for the construction of 80 council houses in Maynooth and Celbridge.
KCC have sought approval from the Department for 50 houses at Old Greenfields, Maynooth and 30 Houses on the Ardclough Road in Celbridge. If approved KCC will then be able to appoint a design team to prepare the plans for the new housing schemes.
Mr. Stagg, Kildare North’s Labour Party candidate, said it is critically important that in addition to acquisitions, Part V units, public private partnership schemes and approved housing body Schemes that the council fulfil their mandate as a housing body by directly building council Housing.
In addition a further 19 houses are being built in Kilcock at present with 6 due to be finished later this month and 13 due for completion in January of next year. There are also plans to build 50 units at Rathasker Road, Naas and 12 units at Anne Street in Prosperous. In relation to public private partnership schemes, 74 units are planned for Craddockstown, Naas and 80 units at Buttersteam Clane. A further 28 units are planned for Castlefen, Sallins by the Tuath Housing Association.
