An eldery woman was robbed in her own home after she invited a young lady in who claimed she was collecting for charity at Kilbelin in Newbrridge.
The elderly lady opened to the door to the young lady on Saturday, December 17 at 1.50pm.
The young girl called to the door and said she was collecting for charity and asked to come inside.
The elderly lady invited her in and donated some money however some time later she realised that an envelope of money had been stolen from her home.
Gardai are warning homeowners not to let strangers into the house and to always ask for ID from those claiming to be collecting money for charity.
“Look for their ID and always keep them outside never invite them indoors,” said Sergeant John Flaherty of Kildare town Garda Station.
