THE number of people under twenty five on the Live Register in the mid east counties of Kildare, Meath and Wicklow has fallen by over a quarter in the year to October last, according to Central Statistic Office figures published Friday, November 4.
In October 2015, there were 4,060 people on the register in the region, of which Kildare comprises around forty percent. By last month, the number had fallen by 25.9% to 3,009.
This was a larger fall than for the State as a whole (21.5%).
Nationally, the percentage falls varied by occupation with Live Register numbers of under 25’s in craft related jobs falling by 19.9%, plant and machinery operators by 18.7% and those in sales by 24.9%.
In the mid east, Live Register numbers for those those in the 25 years and over group fell by 15.2% to 23,462, again, a larger drop than for the State as a whole, 12.4%.
Overall the Register numbers fell 16.6% to 26,471 in the mid east, compared to a drop of 13.6% for the State.
