Members of Athy Municipal District were given an update on the provision of a

new secondary school for St Paul's Monasterevin at last month's meeting.

Cllr Mark Wall tabled a motion on what contact KCC has had with the Department of Education and with those involved in the provision of such a much needed educational facility.

The meeting heard that the council, together with a representative from the National Roads Design Offfice, recently met with representatives from the Board of Management and Monasterevin Parish. The long awaited new school, which will be located at Moore Abbey, has been delayed due to an ongoing technical issue with the National Roads Authority.

It was agreed that all parties would work together and that the council would make technical staff available for the purpose of examining any council-related technical issues which need to be resolved.
