Brave Newbridge mum, Kathleen Conlon handed over €4,603 to Hope(D) recently from the proceeds of her recent head shave in memory of her son Ben.

“The total figure of €4603 has stunned us all and Kathleen deserves such praise in organising this event - the generosity of people is breathtaking,” said Hope(D) chairman, Jim Brady.

“We would like to thank everybody that supported this event. Also we would like to express sincere thanks to the management and staff of Penny's Newbridge.”

He added; “Kathleen's story of losing her beloved Ben to suicide has moved us all.

“We will endeavour to reach out to the community and assist in every way possible to help people suffering with mental health issues. We continue to encourage people in particular young men to seek assistance if they feel they are in a dark place.”

Mr Brady emphasised once again that all donations received are used in the support service of counselling and related services.

The services provided at the Newbridge based charity are counselling services, holistic services, schools programmes, and suicide support groups.

Ben's friend, Stuart McGrath also shed his locks in aid of Hope(D).

Hope(D) can be contacted at No 2 Henry St Newbridge, Co. Kildare or by calling 1800 855 834 or 087 151 3535
