Garda operation against drug dealing, bike theft and anti-social behaviour at Newbridge train station this morning

High visibility garda presence in Newbridge today

A high-visibility garda policing operation began at 7.30am this morning in Newbridge, Co Kildare.

Gardai commenced a Day of Action focusing on the train station in Newbridge to prevent and detect anti-social behaviour, drug dealing and bicycle theft.

According to gardai, a Day of Action is a high visibility policing operation whose main focus is to prevent and detect high volume crimes, such as burglaries and thefts.  The operation will focus in particular on intelligence gathering, warrant executions, searches, arrests, crime detection and crime prevention.

The operation is being carried out by local gardaí and is supported by the Garda Dog and Mounted Units, the Armed Support Unit and Divisional Roads Policing Units.
