Il Ponte Nuovo, the popular Italian restaurant based on George’s Street in Newbridge, closed its doors suddenly last weekend, but has indicated to customers via social media that management plans to reopen their restaurant in the town.

A post on its Facebook page on Saturday morning said that the restaurant will be closed until further notice, but they hoped to reopen soon. No reason was given for the closure.

“We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused we will be back that’s for sure and we will keep you posted over the next couple of days,” said the post.

Customers who have vouchers can use them at the eaterie’s sister restaurant in Lucan until the Newbridge branch reopens, according to management.

A further post from the restaurant said they would reopen in Newbridge, regardless of the location.
