The McDonald's restaurant in Newbridge that was damaged in a fiery blaze yesterday has officially been cordoned off.

The fire began yesterday morning by a vehicle erupting into flames in the Drive-Thru area.

There were no injuries or deaths recorded from the incident.

Fire crews from three different stations worked together for a number of hours to bring the fire under control.

Kildare County Council had urged local residents to keep windows closed, while McDonald's said that all workers and customers were safely evacuated from the restaurant.

The fast food chain added that the premises 'will remain closed until further notice.'
