Four year wait for gym equipment in Kildare

It takes ‘some time ‘ for the money to be made available
There has been a four year wait for money to pay for equipment at a public park.
Naas Tidy Towns applied for €15,000 to pay for gym-type equipment at Monread Park.
Naas Mayor Bill Clear said it takes some time to get money drawn down and the process is further drawn out because it is also "very difficult to get a quote" for the items.
He was responding to a request from Cllr Ger Dunne who had asked Kildare County Council to install the outdoor athletic sports equipment for use by the public, at a Naas Municipal District committee meeting.
Some eight years ago similar equipment was unveiled at the Naas Lakes area.
At the time this consisted of 16 pieces, some of which are wheelchair accessible, at 8 different stations to facilitate circuit training and a fitness trail adjacent lakes. This was a Naas Tidy Towns project.
