Another popular supermarket in this Kildare town is to shut down temporarily

The revamp will see the retail floor space increase by a little over a third
An Aldi supermarket in Naas is to close down for the summer months.
The outlet at Jigginstown, off Newbridge Road, will shut its doors to facilitate a major refurbishment project.
It’s understood that the store will close for a period of ten weeks roughly between mid-June and mid-August, possibly from June 8 to August 17.
The revamp will see the retail floor space increase by a little over a third from 846 square metres to 1,142 square metres.
It’s also thought that at least five new permanent jobs will be created and the revamped premises will have four new electric charging points, two standard EV charging spaces and two accessible EV charging spaces, along with 10 bike parking spaces.
The company said: "Our Jigginstown store is scheduled for refurbishment over the summer months. We will confirm the full details of the planned refurbishment programme shortly."
Aldi’s other shop in Monread reopened last November following a €3.5m renovation job which added an in-store bakery, self-checkouts, wider aisles and new fixtures and fittings - along with 81 car park spaces and 18 bike spaces.
The Monread unit also has an multi-feed external reverse vending machine that enables shoppers to deposit multiple DRS (Deposit Return Scheme) returns into the machine in one go. It is the first ALDI store in Ireland to offer this bulk return service.
The rival Lidl store nearby has been demolished to make way for a new store - which means Naas is will be without to major retailers for a time.
