Main Street, Naas
There's been a call to dramatically reduce the speed of traffic moving through the centre of Naas.
Local councillor Bill Clear wants a new limit of 30 km/h to be applied.
This limit only applies, in the main, to large urban centres like Dublin city centre and parts of Waterford for example, though it has also been imposed in some residential areas.
Cllr Clear said the lower limit should be imposed from Wolfe Stone Street to Fairgreen Street - effectively the entire town.
However, the main route through the town is part of a regional road and it's understood that significant pedestrian and cycling infrastructure will have to be in place before the limit is reduced from 50km/h.
