McAuley Place, Naas
A gala ball was held at Killashee House Hotel in aid of McAuley Place on Saturday, February 23.
This event was held in honour of its founder, Margharita Solon, who resigned from the Board of Directors in October 2018.
The event was hosted by resident Denis Hynes and volunteer, Vera Burke who did an excellent job. There were presentations of two framed photographs that had a personal affiliation to Margarita.

These were presented by the chairperson, Brian Rowntree on behalf of the Board and its general manager, Mark Hazzard, on behalf of the staff and Management of McAuley Place.
The volunteers of McAuley Place were honoured with a commemorative pin which was presented by bolunteer co-ordinator, Catherine O’Sullivan.
The Chairperson of the residents committee, Jim Murtagh gave a wonderful speech and recited his renowned poem, McAuley Place. Two gifts were presented to Margharita on behalf of the residents by Benny Forte and Vera Butler.
The special guest for the evening was Senator Marie Louise O’Donnell, who gave a wonderful and passionate speech in honour of Margharita.
A signed Ireland rugby jersey was kindly donated by the Ryan family from Millbrook press and this was auctioned on the night.
A special word of thanks to the Naas Youth Orchestra who played in the foyer upon arrival and a thank you to the sponsors for the evening, Naas Racecourse, Life Credit Union, Killashee Hotel and Richie Whelan Menswear.
Music on the night was by the Swing Cats and dancing went on until late.
