The latest round of Local Property Tax (LPT) allocations for the Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District (MD) have gone towards footpath works and new road markings.

The two allocations were discussed at the beginning of the latest MD meeting, which took place on Wednesday, May 20 last.

For the first allocation, Fine Gael councillor Peggy O’Dwyer proposed that €5,000 of LPT funds should go towards the MD’s Office in order to assist it in carrying out road works.

This was seconded by her party colleague, Cllr Tracey O’Dwyer.

As for the second allocation, Fine Gael Cllr Kevin Duffy proposed that an additional €5,000 of LPT funds go towards the MD Office in order to assist it in carrying out footpath works.

This was seconded by Fianna Fáil Cllr Rob Power.

Following the meeting, Cllr Peggy O’Dwyer told the Leinster Leader that her LPT allocation had been spent last week on the newly-refurbished cycle lanes which are located on the bridge in Newbridge.
