“Your Vote is Your Voice” - that’s the message from Kildare County Council.
“Work is underway on the information campaign for preparation of the Register of Electors 2014/15,” said the council.
“An information leaflet targeting our campaign message “Your Vote is Your Voice” was delivered to almost every household in the county recently.”
In order to assist people in checking their details on the register, to amend their details or to register to vote, information clinics will be held in libraries and other locations throughout the county, commencing on September 3.
The purpose of these clinics is to encourage participation in the electoral process and to assist people in registering on the Electoral Register.
The timetable is as follows: Athy Library - Tuesday 3 September 3 pm to 7 pm
Leixlip Library - Thursday 5 September 3 pm to 7 pm and continuing at various locations throughout the county during September including Naas, Castledermot, Kilcock, Celbridge, Kildare, Newbridge and Maynooth.
The council said details with regard to the locations and times of all clinics are available on the council website www.kildarecoco.ie and will be published locally in advance.
The Register of Electors can be checked at the local post office, library or Garda station or online at www.checktheregister.ie
Due to changes in the electoral boundaries for the next general election, there will be a large number of people from the Monastervin area moving to a new Laois constituency. Four Kildare North electoral areas are moving to Kildare South. It is expected a general election will be held next year if the government does not fall in a crisis in the meantime.
