A man has been arrested in Newbridge in connection with a €800,000 Garda drug raid on a house at Carrismorris on Monday, June 02, 2014 as part of an on-going operation targeting the sale and supply of drugs in the Kildare area.
Gardaí from the Garda National Drugs Unit assisted by Local Detective Units carried out a planned search of a house at Crossmorris, yesterday.
40 KG of cannabis herb with an estimated street value of up to €800,000 (pending analysis) was discovered during the search. A 43-year-old male was arrested at the scene and is currently detained at Newbridge Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
According to a Garda statement these operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks. Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities. Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality.
