Lord Mayor of Dublin Nial Ring recently hosted a special reception for Rosemary Smith, the Irish international rally driver to honour her achievements in motorsport over five decades.

Rosemary has had success in the Monte Carlo Rally, the London to Sydney Rally in 1968, Mexico and East African Safari as well as outright victory in the Dutch Tulip Rally in 1965 which was a career highlight.

The little Hillman Imp pictured here was the actual car she campaigned in 1965.

In recent years Rosemary set up a driving school in Kill with the aim to get pupils into good driving habits early to last them a lifetime. Rosemary continues to inspire and instruct in equal measure and is a wonderful ambassador for her city and country.
