Man stole €500 from Naas ATM after card left behind

The case was heard in Naas

A man has pleaded guilty to taking €500 by using a card which was left left behind by a woman at an ATM machine in Naas.

Alan Murray (35), of 57 The Paddocks, Naas, was at the Permanent TSB ATM on December 5, 2016, when a woman left the card behind in the machine.

Mr Murray took advantage and got €500 out of her account, Garda Sgt Jim Kelly told Naas District Court (March 21). The incident took place at 6.54pm.

Aishling Murphy BL, representing Mr Murray, said it was an “opportunistic crime” and he “might have gambled” the money. The defendant had drug issues.

Judge Desmond Zaidan adjourned the matter until July 18 for a report on Mr Murray to be prepared by the Probation Services.
