Gardai investigating assault at Kildare nightclub

Gardai in Newbridge, Co Kildare are investigating an assault that occurred in the town last weekend.

According to Gda Aidan McGrath of Maynooth Garda Station – who appeared on Kfm's Crime Slot radio show today (April 15) - the incident occurred at approximately 3.30am on Saturday April 11 at Swifts (McGowan's) nightclub on Main Street in Newbridge, Co Kildare.

Gardai in Newbridge responded to a call reporting two men fighting.

When they arrived at the scene, they spoke with one man who had a small cut to his head, while the other individual had left the scene.

The man was subsequently taken to hospital as a precaution where he made a full recovery.

Gardai are currently viewing CCTV footage of the area, but are appealing to members of the public who may have been at Swifts/McGowan's nightclub on April 11, who may have witnessed the altercation or who may be able to provide additional information.

The public are asked to contact gardai at Newbridge on 045 440180

A garda spokesperson said of the incident: “Gardaí responded to reports of an assault at a licensed premises in Newbridge Co. Kildare at approximately 3:30am on Saturday 11th April, 2026.

“A male aged in his 30s was taken by ambulance to hospital as a precaution. Investigation is ongoing.”
