An intoxicated woman was found slumped in a toilet of a church in Newbridge, Naas District Court was told.

Before the court was Brigid Dawson, 44, whose address was given as Peter McVerry Trust House, Eyre Street, Newbridge.

Sgt Mary Meade told the court the woman was in an intoxicated condition and slumped in an open public toilet behind St Conleth's Church, Naas Road, Newbridge,  on March 2, 2026.

"She's killing herself with alcohol,” said Judge Desmond Zaidan adding “I wish she wasn’t coming before me.”

Asked if the defendant had ever been to rehab, solicitor Tim Kennelly said the defendant was afraid to go to Cuan Mhuire because she doesn’t want to lose access to her children.

Judge Zaidan imposed a fine of €150.
